"Most of the songs on the album West are thematically linked to the romantic idea of the American west, or what that means to us as a band," says Wooden Shjips' frontman, Ripley Johnson. "For 'Crossing,' that is represented in images of epic road trips and losing oneself in the rhythm of the road. It's existentialism as transport, both physically and spiritually, literally and metaphorically."
