The siblings Wild Belle know a little something about love. In their new video for "Keep You," the duo sings about unrequited, lifelong love over a dancehall reggae beat. To illustrate their words, a young boy struggles with a crush on his caretaker, but only expresses it in adolescent frustration – yet after leaving her for awhile, finding other companionship, he returns to his first love.
"It's a story about unrequited love and how with age, we don't necessarily mature," director Melina Matsoukas tells Rolling Stone. "As a child, all we want is love and attention and that story never grows old, it just takes a different form as we age. So it's not so much about 'all men are boys,' but just [that] all of us are forever young. Old habits never die."
"Keep You" is on Wild Belle's forthcoming album, Isles, due in March 2013.
