You don't get to be one of the biggest live DJs in the world without knowing how to build a relationship with your audience. "We always try to involve the Tiësto fans as much as possible in the show and in my music," Tiësto tells Rolling Stone. "I always wave at them or make eye contact, and try to play what they like and I reply to fans on my Twitter page as well."

To show that chemistry, Tiësto and his management invited fans to submit videos shot on their phones – and then turned the clips into a full-length music video. The clip for "Work Hard, Play Hard (AutoErotique Mix)" is a mix of shots from live shows, fans getting ready for performances and the audience. 

Tiësto says he was blown away by the footage. "For me, it always looks the same every night – I see the big crowd of people in front of me, but you see the visuals, the lights, the experience is way more intense," he says."And also that people are at home getting ready to go to the party and are so excited. You see the girl jumping on her bed like, 'Yeah, I’m going to Tiësto.' It was really cool to see."

But playing live shows gives him the biggest rush. "My fans are so open minded, so I can experiment a lot with my sounds. I can just drop crazy stuff on them and they will love it and the energy they have, I soak it all up."

He expects that energy and fandom to be ever more intense this fall when he hits college campuses across the U.S. for the Tiësto Club Life College Invasion Tour, which kicks off September 15th in Madison, Wisconsin and wraps up October 8th at Los Angeles' 26,000-capacity Home Depot Stadium. The Los Angeles show marks the biggest single-DJ gig yet in the United States. "Most of my shows are 21-plus and it’s harder for them to get tickets," he says. "I want to give something back to the new generation."
