In this interview with the Decemberists from Bonnaroo, Colin Meloy and Chris Funk talk about Neil Young's influence on their recent record The King is Dead, which was recorded in a barn. "It was more of a vibe thing," says Meloy. "When you say 'let's record in a barn,' everyone thinks of Harvest. Even though Harvest wasn't recorded in a barn, I think many people think it was, so we were just sort of trying to keep that myth alive." They also talk about the surprise of seeing the record reach Number One on the album charts, and shows that changed their lives as teenagers.
