Sigur Ros Preview New LP 'Kveikur' With Monstrous Song and Video
Seventh LP is due June 18th on XL Recordings

Sigur Rós have released a new, characteristically bizarre video that accompanies an announcement for their new record Kveikur, which is due out June 18th in the U.S. The video, for the new song "Brennisteinn," mixes black and white footage with flashes of bright neon as a group wrestles a beast of some sort to the ground and tears it apart before they're apparently chased off by a long-horned monster.

Directed by Andrew Huang, the clip is intercut with shots of the band – now a three-piece, following the departure of multi-instrumentalist Kjartan Sveinsson – bashing out the pummeling seven-minute cut that finds frontman Jónsi Birgisson's vocals wafting over a heavy cacophony serrated by his bowed guitar playing.

Along with the release of Kveikur, Sigur Rós (who have signed to XL Recordings) will embark on a world tour this spring and summer, with dates also scheduled to extend into the fall. Ticketholders for their U.S. shows will also receive a free digital EP that contains three new tracks.

Sigur Rós will appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon tonight, where they'll reportedly premiere a new song, before heading to Madison Square Garden for a performance Monday.
