Shout Out Louds go speed dating in their new video for "Illusions," as a nervous young woman heads to a strange venue to hoping a night of quick chats results in a connection. Most of the candidates are awful, flexing with brass knuckles, forcing her to listen to music and showing off pitiful dance moves in desperate attempts to impress her. But as she gets a drink at the bar, she finds a worthy gentleman who invites her to dance. She musters up the courage after the party to return to find that special guy, and her heartfelt gamble pays off.
For Shout Out Louds, shooting the video in Los Angeles was a big change of pace from their native Sweden. "In Sweden, to get 25 people to dance and act or even show up for a video shoot or anything in that area you have to buy them copious amounts of booze and lure them with money," frontman Adam Olenius tells Rolling Stone. "In L.A., the city of dreams, they show up for nothing and shimmer!"
"Illusions" is on Shout Out Louds' latest album, Optica, out now. They'll also kick off a North American tour on May 7th at Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club. For full tour dates, visit Shout Out Louds' website.
