"Joy Week" continues on the syndicated Bobby Bones Show, with country artists visiting the radio program's Nashville studio to perform cover songs — many of them outside of the country box. Earlier this week, Dierks Bentley channeled his inner Eddie Vedder with Pearl Jam's "Just Breathe." Cam put a country-soul spin on Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself." And Natalie Stovall took us to church with "Amazing Grace."
Maren Morris is the latest to tackle a pop hit, playing a wistful, acoustic version of Beyoncé's "Halo." The country newcomer strums an acoustic while belting the 2008 love song with equal parts grit and grace.
"I love pop music, I love country music," the "My Church" singer tells Rolling Stone Country. "As a songwriter, I listen to everything to be inspired. . . from Rihanna, to Bruno Mars, to Springsteen to Johnny Cash."
Other stars to participate in "Joy Week" (so far) have included Luke Bryan, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Brett Eldredge, Lindsay Ell, Lucie Silvas, Charlie Worsham, Mo Pitney, Cole Swindell and Jana Kramer. Check out their performances here.
