After a six-year silence, alt-rockers Soul Asylum are gearing up for the July 17th release of their latest record, Delayed Reaction. It finds the group with a new label and a re-engineered line-up that includes founders Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy, ex-Replacements and ex-Guns N’ Roses bassist Tommy Stinson and former Prince drummer Michael Bland.
You can check out this clip for the group's hook-laden first single, "Gravity" – which Murphy describes as "a stop-start, agit-pop, angst-driven rave-up in the tradition of the Who" – above. The footage mixes together live and behind-the-scenes shots, and its energy runs high. "Windmills and air guitar histrionics are optional," Murphy advises viewers, "but encouraged."
