"Detroit is a huge part of everything I do, and not just the music," says neo-soul singer Mayer Hawthorne. "That's where I grew up, and that's the city that I love and I wrote an anthem, an ode, to Detroit on the new record. I like to promote the positive things that are going on there, because everybody else just likes to focus on the negative."
