When Martina McBride was crafting the track list to her latest album, Everlasting, she thought back to the soul and R&B songs that have left lasting impressions on her. The project includes the soaring singer's take on classics by such artists as the Supremes, Otis Redding and Van Morrison. And while most are songs her fans know by heart, one is a bit more obscure: "Little Bit of Rain."
"I remember hearing Linda Ronstadt's version of it when I was a teenager," McBride told Country Weekly. "We wanted to do a very simple, acoustic-style arrangement and it's a little more bluesy than the original by Fred Neil."
McBride has released a new video for the song that is fairly visually simplistic, giving the lyrics and her incomparable voice center stage. The country star rocks on a front porch while her guitar player strums the song, with a rain machine as the clip's only special effects. (Watch it above.)
