On his latest record, Blues Funeral, singer-songwriter Mark Lanegan offers gritty, dark songwriting that feasts on life's bitterness. In this 4AD session, recorded on February 6th in NYC's Pull Studios and directed by Robert Semmer, Lanegan takes the ominously lurching "Gravedigger's Song" into the intimate environment of the live series. The dimly lit room fits the track's venomous mood as Lanegan's raspy, throaty vocals squeeze and strangle every bit of frustration out the lyrics. Blues Funeral is out now on 4AD; for Lanegan's full session, visit the 4AD website.
