Macy Gray recently stopped by Rolling Stone to talk about how performing live covers of her favorite rock songs turned into the making of her "proper soul album" Covered. Gray says the covers album, featuring songs by Eurythmics, Radiohead and My Chemical Romance ("Teenagers" is one of the best songs I've ever heard"), is grittier and more raw-sounding than her previous work and reflects the dark place she was in during the recording process. The singer also talked about her love of Arcade Fire, making sure her covers sound honest, and her plans to release new songs before the end of the year.
