"I was told not to do this, but I don't give a shit," Lady Gaga said before playing a solo piano rendition of her new song "The Edge of Glory" at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival last night in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. Though the studio version of the song is thrilling with its overwhelming disco beats and a sax solo from the E Street Band's Clarence Clemons, the melancholy sweetness of the tune really comes through when it's stripped down to just Gaga's voice and her piano.
