Kate Bush
Deeper Understanding

When Kate Bush reworked "Deeper Understanding," a song about computer addiction from her 1989 album, The Sensual World, for her new record, Director's Cut, she didn't do much to update the lyrics to keep up with new technology. (Who orders a sexy computer program from a magazine these days?) This wasn't such a bad call – the dated visual and lyrical touches in this video, which she directed herself with Harry Potter actor Robbie Coltrane, have a strange way of amping up the song's feeling of loneliness, paranoia and despair.
