Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music crew dropped their long anticipated Cruel Summer compilation last week, so it figures the rapper would want to talk about the release. But who better to interview a press-shy Kanye than Kanye? West brings out insightful gems about himself, including this one: "I like when I get mad at music because it's so good," he says. "I'm like, 'Oh shit. Why didn't we think of that? Why didn't we do that?'" Also: "I get bored really easily. I'm like majorly underwhelmed in general."
But Kanye also opens up about his creative process. "One track might have 30 people's opinions on it. It's not just about a tracklist and a name. It's about a communal style of work," he says. "I had that album artwork in front of me while I was working on the songs and I would listen and say does this song sound like this packaging looks?" Ultimately, he says, "The whole thing is about empowerment. We're just trying our best."
