Jay Z Ponders Pitfalls of Fame in 'Holy Grail'

Rapper gets meditative in a mansion in grandiose new clip

Jay Z goes with characteristically grandiose visuals in his new video for "Holy Grail," the song featuring Justin Timberlake that opens Hov's latest LP, Magna Carta Holy Grail.

Where Does Jay Z Rank on Our 100 Greatest Artists List?

For whatever reason, the track's been remixed slightly — certain parts are slowed down and Timberlake's intro now comes after the first verse — and the clip opens with Jay musing about the trappings of fame in a dusty, dark but once-opulent mansion and watching Buster Douglas knock out Mike Tyson. Timberlake shows up for dinner and a show (i.e. a bunch of dancers moving languidly with sheets draped over them) before singing in front of a raging fire. At the end, a pyramid of overflowing champagne glasses crashes to the ground, because: symbolism!

Jay Z released Magna Carta Holy Grail in July, and hit the road with Timberlake soon after for their "Legends of the Summer" stadium tour, which included a stop at Yankee Stadium
