In the early 1970s, famed rock photographer Bob Gruen and his wife Nadya followed Ike and Tina Turner during the peak of their joint careers, videotaping the couple's legendary performances and mountains of behind-the-scenes footage. The footage will finally be released on the DVD Ike and Tina: On the Road 1971-72, out November 20th.
Now you can get a sneak peek of the documentary with this exclusive clip, which finds Ike, Tina and the Ikettes recording at Ike's Bullock Sound studio in Los Angeles. "We taped them there in the spring of 1972," Gruen tells Rolling Stone. "Tina was just starting to write her own songs, and she is talking with the Ikettes about that."
