Hot of the heels of Bonnaroo, indie rockers Here We Go Magic took some time to chat with Rolling Stone about their origin story, preparing for live shows, performing at the festival, meeting Thom Yorke and more.
"I made a record, and then some shows that were booked and it wasn't solo material," says frontman Luke Temple on the band's beginnings. "I need to put a band together to play the shows." But the group maintains a "true band vibe" by keeping it "really simple and open-ended" in the songwriting process, says Temple, allowing bandmates Michael Bloch, Peter Hale, and Jen Turner to build upon his initial idea and "interpret it as they may."
Here We Go Magic's latest album, A Different Ship, was released this May.
