Immediately after kicking off their massive world tour in Europe last week, Haim popped back to the United States to make their first appearance as musical guests on Saturday Night Live. The trio of sisters played two cuts from their debut album, Days Are Gone, which was released at the end of September to big sales and critical adoration.
Eschewing the stage antics and wild costumes that have come to mark recent SNL pop acts, the sisters bore down and focused on the music as they played "The Wire" and "Don't Save Me."
In a recently interview with Fader, bassist (and eldest sister) Este Haim talked about her middle school obsession with Saturday Night Live, and recounted her heartache when a high school theater teacher told her, "You're never going to be on Saturday Night Live." It may have been her musical rather than comedic chops that got her on the show in the end, but at least Haim did get to appear in one sketch.
Haim return to Germany tomorrow night to resume their string of European dates with Phoenix before moving on to the rest of the world. They'll start the North American leg of their tour with a show in San Francisco on April 9th.
