Gary Clark, Jr.
On recording his new LP
Eric Helton

Gary Clark, Jr. is working with producers Rob Cavallo (Green Day) and Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Fiona Apple) on his upcoming major-label LP. "I worked with Rob Cavallo on a couple of tracks, and then I'm gonna go out to L.A. after this SXSW madness is over and we're gonna knock out a few songs," he says. "With Rob I have these loud guitar riffs and you know, these kind of harder things I want to do, and when it comes to like the soul and rhythm and blues type of stuff, more kind of funky, Mike's got the ear for that."

The Austin, Texas blues rocker  says that he finds it reassuring that so many people have been responding to his music at major festivals such as Coachella and Bonnaroo. "Once I finally let it go and started writing songs that I thought were really honest and from the soul, and to get love back, there's no feeling; there's no way to describe that."
