Fountains of Wayne 'A Dip in the Ocean' on 'Letterman'

Power pop heroes play 'A Dip in the Ocean'

The long-running power pop band Fountains of Wayne stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman last night to play "A Dip in the Ocean," a cut from their latest album Sky Full of Holes. The jangly rocker plays to the group's long-standing strengths, but eases up on the goofiness of signature hits like "Stacy's Mom" and "Denise" in favor of a slightly darker vibe that recalls late-period Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
