Aside from visiting Nashville and taking one of the Grand Ole Opry House's guided tours, not many country music fans get a glimpse backstage at the esteemed institution's home. As part of its Travel Insider series, CNN revisited a segment with country singer Craig Morgan, who surprised artists like Old Crow Medicine Show and Ricky Skaggs while sharing trivia about the Opry House.
Among the tidbits learned: the flood line from the 2010 Tennessee floods reached above the waist in the Opry's green room; there are 19 dressing rooms, but none numbered 13; and there are more than 200 Opry members, with every one receiving their own backstage mailbox for fan letters.
Morgan, who incidentally turns 50 today, also visits with Old Crow Medicine Show in their dressing room, quizzing them on their favorite part of playing the Opry. Replies Old Crow leader Ketch Secor, "Porter, Roy Acuff and standing in them big tall shoes."
The Grand Ole Opry House opened on March 16, 1974, and celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
