Coheed and Cambria take to the Guitar Center Sessions stage for this blistering take on "Welcome Home," the band's expressive yet forceful 2005 anthem. Originally found on the band's album Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, the performance captures frontman Claudio Sanchez wielding his wicked double-neck axe in a vibrant battle with bandmate Travis Stever.
"In these past couple of years we've seen Coheed reunited and reimagined," Sanchez tells Rolling Stone. "Guitar Center Sessions is a nice way to punctuate those experiences and leave the fans with a little something special as we give ourselves to the next hibernation."
Coheed devotees will find the band (which also features drummer Josh Eppard and bassist Zach Cooper) in the company of silver mannequin torsos when their episode of Guitar Center Sessions airs Friday, January 10th at 9 p.m. ET/10 p.m. PT on DirecTV’s Audience Network. An encore broadcast will air on AXS TV on Monday, January 13th at 9 p.m.
Coheed and Cambria's seventh disc, The Afterman: Descension, was released in February as the second part of a double album, the follow-up to the preceding year's The Afterman: Ascension. Last July – in conjunction with the band's billing on the RockstarUPROAR tour with Alice in Chains and Jane's Addiction – the CDs were paired for a proper double album, The Afterman, and accompanied by bonus live material and a book detailing the concept behind the project.
