Do 'Darling Buds of May' on 'Letterman'
Elien Becque

Self-described "grit-pop" rockers Brother reject the laissez-faire attitude toward fame and success fashionable among many young musicians. Of their rising star and recent record deal, lead vocalist Leonard Newell has quipped, “The most surprising thing to us is that all this hasn’t happened sooner.” The band, which hails from Slough, England, exuded that attitude Friday night on Letterman with a wound-up, hungry performance of its first single, "Darling Buds of May," in which the lyrics declare, "We've got to get this right/Right now, wow!" Brother's cockily, cleverly titled debut album, Famous First Words, is due for release on July 4th, and they've just kicked off a tour that will bring them from Leeds, England to Osaka, Japan by the end of August.
