Bon Iver's Justin Vernon surprised his audience in Milwaukee on Friday night with a very faithful rendition of the Björk song "Who Is It" featuring the beat-boxing of trombonist Reggie Pace. The song, which hails from the Icelandic singer's experimental a cappella album Medulla, is an unlikely choice for a cover, but it suits Vernon's voice very well and slips very comfortably into Bon Iver's grim yet highly romantic style. This was only the first night of the band's tour in support of their highly acclaimed new album, so at this point, it's not clear whether this was a special surprise or something that will become a staple of every set. Either way, it's rather inspired.
