Ben Gibbard left his guitar at home for his performance last night on Conan, instead fronting Los Angeles mariachi ensemble Trio Ellas on a version of "Something's Rattling," from the Death Cab for Cutie singer's recent solo album, Former Lives. Looking sharp in a velvety blazer, Gibbard moved loosely in time with the music while the band provided a blend of guitars, percussion, horns and backing vocals on the classic-sounding tune.
