Long Beach, California's experimental garage-poppers Tijuana Panthers deliver an offbeat, artful black-and-white video for "Boardwalk," from their latest album, Semi-Sweet. It stars guitarist Chad Wachtel, who rides an old BMW motorcycle across the desert; he hallucinates the appearance of a circus tent, where he encounters a strong man, a tightrope walker and Siamese twins who toy with his heart.
"The video started out with a 6 a.m. coffee inspiration of creepy, Lynchian La Strada images in my head," the band's bassist Daniel Michicoff, tells Rolling Stone. "Chad on his bike, me juggling dead birds, and [drummer] Phil [Shaeen] tightrope-walking. The song and video definitely captures the band's nice-guy angst."
Those looking to catch the band's circus act in a live setting will have several opportunities in the near future, beginning with a gig at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory tomorrow. A pair of California shows are also slated for the Constellation Room at the Observatory in Santa Ana on August 23rd and West Hollywood's Whisky A Go Go on September 13th.
