Hometown: London
Backstory: La Havas got her start as a teenager singing backup for British singer Paloma Faith and playing around the London scene before she formed a songwriting partnership with Matt Hales, who performs under the name Aqualung. Overnight Sensation: The buzz was immediate after the little-known La Havas performed on the U.K. TV show Later . . . With Jools Holland in 2011: Bon Iver and Robert Plant asked her to open for them on tour, and Prince invited her to Paisley Park for a jam session.
