Hometown: Broken Arrow, Okla.
Backstory: As a teenager, McPherson played in several punk bands until he discovered Buddy Holly's Decca recordings, soon becoming obsessed with Fats Domino and Little Richard.
Church of JD: Country superstar Eric Church is a huge fan. "It's very stripped down and refreshing," says Church. "You feel like you just walked into a burger joint in 1955 and expect it to have hot rods outside."
Hot Clip: Watch the video for McPhereson's "North Side Gal" above.
