Amy Regan's "America, Here's My Boy," is an anti-war lamentation performed in a style that has existed since war itself. Taken from her new EP, Amy Regan Sings Selections from the Beck Hansen Song Reader, the song opens with just Regan and haunting acoustic strings. She strums gently, letting notes hang in the air, while she details the gravest sacrifice.

Beck Explains 'Song Reader' Project

"'America, Here's My Boy' is a mother's loving and yearning soliloquy to her soldier son," Regan tells Rolling Stone. "Written in the tone of an early American hymn, its message is ever relevant now."

Fitting the song's sparse nature, this black-and-white video flashes through a series of active soldiers, their family members and veterans, conveying a range of emotions, from the enthusiasm of newly enlisted recruits to a mother, standing with her children, holding a framed picture of a deceased family member.

Regardless how you feel about overseas conflicts, the EP is for a good cause: 100 percent of the donations used to purchase the release goes to Blue Star Families, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and helping military families. Amy Regan Sings Selections from Beck Hansen Song Reader EP is available now at iTunes.
