“You”

Romeo Santos | 2011

Aventura lead singer Romeo Santos went solo in 2011 with the release of Formula, Vol. 1. "You," the album's first single, spent seven weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart and topped the Latin digital download chart. "You" is about a man who falls in love with a woman he can't resist. In Spanish, Santos croons about his lady being the ultimate aphrodisiac and a "15 on a scale from 1 to 10." "Romeo has crossed over without singing in English," says Sony U.S. Latin president Ruben Leyva. "He's been able to do what other artists have been able to do-reach a dominant-English-speaking audience-only by singing in Spanish."

“Madame George”

Van Morrison | 1968

One of the first stream-of-consciousness epics to make it onto a Van Morrison record, his drawn-out farewell to the eccentric "Madame George" lasted nearly 10 minutes, combining ingredients from folk, jazz and classical music. The character that gave the song its title provoked speculation that it was about a drag queen, though Morrison denied this in Rolling Stone. "If you see it as a male or a female or whatever, it's your trip," he remarked. "I see it as a ... a Swiss cheese sandwich. Something like that."
