“Me Myself and I”

De La Soul | 1988

Hip-hop band De La Soul included "Me Myself and I" on their debut album, but the song almost didn’t make it on the project. "That was the second to last song recorded for that album," band member Posdnus told Rolling Stone. "[Our label] Tommy Boy was loving how the album was going, but they felt like we needed an introduction song. That was the first time on this album where it was brought to our attention that we may need to make sure we have something that isn't so over someone's head." The song was also used for an episode of the HBO series, "Entourage."

“I Can See for Miles”

The Who | 1967

A foreboding accusation of lies and deception, "I Can See for Miles" was given a psychedelic hard-rock veneer by Pete Townshend's whiplash guitar riffs and Keith Moon's thundering drums. The song helped break the Who as stars in the United States, giving them a Top Ten hit in late 1967. "I swoon when I hear the sound," boasted Townshend in Rolling Stone. "The words, which aging senators have called 'drug oriented,' are about a jealous man with exceptionally good eyesight. Honest."
