For their first album since 2009's ambient Zephyr, Basement Jaxx changed studios, moving from the run-down building where they had been recording to a newer, more open facility. Inspired by this transition, as well as the contemporary sounds of artists like Disclosure and Rudimental, the duo attempted to make – in the words of member Felix Buxton – "something reenergized, something lighter, brighter, more hopeful."
The resulting album, Junto, realizes that goal, but "Galactical," the first bonus track on its deluxe edition, provides a notable exception: Here, whispered vocals sit on top of ominous synths and rattling bass. The music video, appropriately, looks like a scene from a video game, with neon-lined dancers moving and floating against a black, deep sea background. It was directed by Hadaya Turner, who has done editing and special effects for Hype Williams-directed music videos like those for Kanye West's "All of the Lights," Brandy's "Put It Down" and Jack White's "Freedom at 21."
