Lady Gaga has the rather unusual habit of recording massive amounts of new material while on tour. It results in strangely timed new albums. Her Monsters Ball tour ended the same month that Born This Way hit shelves, and it's taken her a year and a half to bring the Born This Way Ball tour to America. During that time, she worked feverishly on ARTPOP, which is due this spring.

Gaga hasn't previewed any new material yet, but she's working primarily with Born This Way collaborator Fernando Garibay along with RedOne and DJ White Shadow. "I'm fascinated with the decay of the blonde pop icon and how culture loves to build and give birth to fantasies and then destroy them and what that means," Gaga told Access Hollywood in 2012. "It's something I want to explore on my next album.”
