  • Bonnie Raitt Captivates in Chicago

    May 20, 2012 3:10 PM ET
     |  Dan Hyman

"I should go away more often," Bonnie Raitt told the hooting-and-hollering crowd at the Chicago Theatre on Saturday evening before unspooling a multi-song encore highlighted by the heart-wrenching 1991 ballad "I Can't Make You Love Me."  Raitt, of course, was referring to the two years she had spent away from the road – a break that ended earlier this month when she kicked off an 80-plus-show tour in Oklahoma. Judging by her admitted amazement at the Saturday crowd’s ove...  | More »

  • Black Sabbath Reunite in Birmingham

    May 20, 2012 10:35 AM ET
     |  Mark Sutherland

The biggest question about Black Sabbath’s long-awaited reunion was answered first, as soon as Ozzy Osbourne ran onto the O2 Academy Birmingham stage last night with a cheery "Come on, you fuckers!" while looking as gleeful as a kid on Christmas morning. The tattooed figure behind the drums was not given a formal introduction by a band respectful of original member Bill Ward’s absence but, as Osbourne’s regular drummer, Tommy Clufetos was instantly recognizable to many in th...  | More »

  • Sleigh Bells Bring the Noise on Spring Tour

"Hey, D.C., who wants to dance with me?" Sleigh Bells singer Alexis Krauss screamed midway through the Brooklyn noise-pop duo's sold-out show at Washington's 9:30 Club on March 27th. The crowd of 1,200 howled in response as she launched into their hyperactive 2010 cut "Kids," climbing atop a riser and whiplashing her jet-black locks to guitarist-producer Derek Miller's hammering rhythms. "We always feel like we're playing a team sport," Miller says earlier that afternoon,...  | More »

  • Beach Boys Kick Off 50th Anniversary Tour

    April 25, 2012 9:17 AM ET
     |  Mike Powell

You probably could've guessed it was a Beach Boys show just by the shirts the men in the audience wore: Collared, short-sleeved and oversized, with palm trees, hibiscus flowers and nautical gear printed all over them. At the back of the stage, surfboards were lined up like Grecian columns on either side of a huge video screen. It wasn't until midway through the band's second set that Mike Love acknowledged what half the people in the audience must've been thinking: "It...  | More »

     |  Andy Greene

The Beach Boys have unveiled a clip of "That's Why God Made the Radio," the first single off their reunion album that's due to hit shelves this summer. The group split in the late 1990s and toured in separate camps, occasionally firing off nasty lawsuits at each other. Last year, they decided to put the acrimony behind them and reunite for a tour. They've spent the last few months at a Los Angeles studio working on their new album. "It's a sentimental thing for me," say...  | More »
