Weezer's Rivers Cuomo Cleared to Perform, Band Plans Florida Show

By |

Rivers Cuomo has been given clearance to return to the stage just over a month after a tour bus accident forced Weezer to cancel their remaining Raditude tour dates. "Doctor says my lung is all healed--cleared to fly to Florida for the show. Turns out I broke 5 ribs!!!," Cuomo wrote on the band's Twitter. As Rolling Stone previously reported, after a week-long stay in an Albany, New York hospital, Cuomo had to bus it back to Los Angeles as doctors were concerned the change in air pressure from flying could affect his recovery.

Now that Cuomo has healed, Weezer are wasting no time getting back to business. The band will perform on January 20th at Florida State University; the school earned the show by winning a T-Mobile contest. Weezer write on their official website that this will be their only 2010 gig until they headline the first night of the Bamboozle in East Rutherford, New Jersey on May 1st.

Weezer nixed their tour after Cuomo's tour bus skidded on ice and off the road in December. The trek was originally supposed to wrap up today in Phoenix, Arizona.
