Pearl Jam kicked off their 20th anniversary celebration this weekend with a two-day blowout festival in East Troy, Wisconsin featuring performances by the Strokes, Mudhoney, Queens of the Stone Age and a Temple of the Dog reunion. Rolling Stone was there, and we filed a full report on the show. We also have an exclusive excerpt of Pearl Jam Twenty, the companion book for Cameron Crowe's new documentary of the same name, in which the band reveals the democratic creative process that resulted in their 2002 album Riot Act.
Also, Rolling Stone excerpted Marc Spitz's new book Jagger: Rebel, Rock Star, Rambler, Rogue, chatted with Don Henley about his fight to regain his copyrights, learned why the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith decided not to tour with Chickenfoot, discussed grunge's legacy with Mudhoney's Mark Arm, found out that Peter Hook is pissed off about New Order's upcoming reunion shows, and chatted with Joe Jonas and Jimmy Cliff about their latest albums.
