Zayn Malik continues to roll out songs from his forthcoming solo debut album, Mind of Mine. Following the debut of first single "Pillowtalk" and its accompanying video, he premiered a second song from the album, "It's You," on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was his first solo television performance since he split with One Direction. On Thursday, Malik dropped his latest single's video after sharing a teaser via Twitter earlier in the day.
The heartbreaking ballad's moody vibe is aptly reflected in the black-and-white clip, which finds the singer in a pensive state. With scenes shot in slow motion, Malik is first seen alone inside a home while his video costar Nicola Peltz, who recently starred in Transformers: Age of Extinction, is outside enjoying the pool. "She don't give a fuck about what I need / And I can't tell you why because my brain can't equate it," he sings. "Tell me your lies, because I just can't face it." The yearning repeated chorus of "It's you" follows.
Later, Malik sits at a piano as the emotional lyrics continue to unfold. "I won't cover my scars / I'll let them bleed," he laments. "Am I wrong, for wanting us to make it?" As the video progresses, the object of his affection is seen with another man at a cocktail party while Malik looks on. It culminates with Malik watching through a window as his former love drives away.
Mind of Mine will be released on March 25th via RCA.
