Ryan Adams last appeared on Austin City Limits last January with Jenny Lewis. But for his latest episode of the long-running concert show, Adams is delivering a rare solo acoustic set. Rolling Stone has a clip from his tender performance of "Desire," off 2002's Demolition.
During the episode, which airs Saturday, January 16th on PBS, Adams dedicates the song to his manager, who he claims is "the most tolerant man on the face of the planet." Detailing how much the pair have been through, Adams reveals that "Desire" is his manager's favorite Adams song. "He loves this song, and this song could be like [the] 1-800-Flowers song," the singer-songwriter jokes in the set. "I don't even think Anne Murray would touch this song. She would go, 'Too soft rock.'"
Shakey Graves not only performs in the upcoming episode but makes his ACL debut with his set. Last Saturday, Kendrick Lamar appeared on the series, with Alabama Shakes' episode from the prior week kicking off the 2016 episodes of ACL's 41st season. Future episodes from this season will feature Angélique Kidjo, Sleater-Kinney, Leon Bridges and Tedeschi Trucks Band.
