Less than a week after Courtney Barnett delivered a killer musical guest spot on the season finale of Saturday Night Live, the Australian singer-songwriter was back on NBC as she and her band visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Friday.
While Barnett's SNL performance spotlighted tracks off her acclaimed 2015 LP Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, she instead ripped through her dexterous, entrancing cover of the Grateful Dead's "New Speedway Boogie," her contribution to the National-curated Day of the Dead tribute compilation, for the Tonight Show audience.
Previously, the National and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy appeared on CBS This Morning to perform a pair of their Day of the Dead cuts.
The Best New Artist Grammy-nominated Barnett recently spoke to Rolling Stone about her plans to release new music in the near future. "I'll probably make a record this year," she said. "It takes me a long time to get things done, or just to make decisions about when things are gonna get done. So who knows. Probably not. It'll probably be fucking forever to think about. I don't know. Maybe. There's a one in five chance."
