Van Morrison has personally selected 200 pages' worth of what he feels are his most important and enduring turns of phrase for inclusion in the upcoming book, Lit Up Inside, due out October 28th. "The lyrics in this book span 50 years of writing and as such are representative of my creative journey," he said in a statement on his website.

Additionally, he is marking the book's release with an appearance at London's Lyric Theatre, where he will be reading, discussing and performing his works, on November 17th. Throughout the evening, a handful of British and Irish writers and poets, including Edna O'Brien, Michael Longley, Ian Rankin and Dr. Eamonn Hughes, among other, will join him onstage. Hughes, an assistant director of Queen's University in Belfast, wrote Lit Up Inside's introduction; poet David Meltzer, who has not been announced to appear at the Lyric Theatre engagement, wrote the foreword.

The book's U.K. publisher, which is putting out its edition on October 2nd, estimates that the book contains about one-third of the lyrics Morrison has written over the course of his career. It is putting out three different editions of the book, including signed editions and a deluxe one that comes with a reproduction of handwritten lyrics that the singer signed and numbered.

Morrison put out his last album, Born to Sing: No Plan B, in 2012, but has spent time going over his past works in recent years. In 2013, he put out a deluxe, four-disc edition of his 1970 release, Moondance, which included three discs of unreleased music from the sessions for the album. One such track was a different take of "Into the Mystic," which Rolling Stone premiered.
