U2 guitarist the Edge has expanded his Music Rising initiative with a new Hurricane Sandy relief fund. Music Rising will donate an initial $250,000 to aid in rebuilding music programs in the tri-state area affected by Hurricane Sandy in October. For more information, visit Music Rising's website.
Aside from big benefit events like 12-12-12, Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together and 4 Artists 1 Cause, individual artists have shown generosity: Lady Gaga donated $1 million to New York and the American Red Cross, and Rihanna donated $100,000 to the Food Bank of New York and turned an album release party into a charity event.
