To help raise awareness about AIDS, Tiësto teamed with the (RED) charity and recruited some big name friends, including Calvin Harris, Avicii, Diplo and Bono for the compilation album Dance (RED), Save Lives. The superstar DJ partnered with Russian producers Swanky Tunes and singer Ben McInerney for "Make Some Noise," which Russian DJ Skidka chops into an uplifting remix with titanic claps, swirling trance arpeggios, grimy electro riffs and sizable bass. Dance (RED), Save Lives is out November 27th; Tiësto and other artists on the compilation will also livestream their sets at Melbourne's Stereosonic Festival, which coincides with World AIDS Day Weekend on December 1st and 2nd.

“The A Team”

Ed Sheeran | 2011

This debut track from the then-20-year-old British singer-songwriter has a dark story behind it. Sheeran says he culls songwriting inspiration from "viewing other people's situations," which, for the heroine in "The A Team," involves drug addiction and prostitution that began as a teen. Sheeran paints the woman's trials with haunting imagery such as "But lately her face seems/Slowly sinking, wasting/Crumbling like pastries." "I did a gig at a homeless shelter, [and the song] is about one of the women there. It's her story," he said.
