Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly was robbed at gunpoint in New York earlier this week. The 34-year-old post-hardcore singer tweeted details of the incident, writing that he was walking home from the train when he was robbed. The assailant stole an "iPad, iPhone, passport, wallet, cards, rent money in cash" as well as medicine for "intense medical treatments." Rickly has been previously diagnosed with epilepsy, according to Billboard.
Caring fans have started a Reddit thread to encourage others to help Rickly, and donations have already begun. Rickly hasn't divulged the amounts, but he has expressed his thanks. "A number of kind and generous souls have elected to make donations to my bandcamp, for one reason or another. Unexpected, unsolicited . . ." he wrote on Twitter.
Thursday released their latest album, No Devolución, in 2011 but have been on ice since the beginning of 2012. Rickly is currently playing with the punk group United Nations.
