Jazz-funk virtuoso Thundercat will embark on a world tour next year, starting with a North American leg that kicks off in February, Pitchfork reports.

The bassist will open with a two-night stand at the Independent in San Francisco February 13th and 14th before hitting Portland, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, New York and more on a 20-city stretch. Thundercat's North American leg will wrap March 12th at Trees in Dallas, though he'll hit the road again a few days later on the 16th in Tel-Aviv, Israel for a European stretch that wraps in April.

In August, Thundercat released "Bus in These Streets," his first new song since his 2015 mini-album, The Beyond/Where the Giants Roam. While he has yet to announce an official follow-up, Thundercat has remained busy with an array of projects, including WOKE, a group formed with Flying Lotus and rap duo Shabazz Palaces.

More recently, Thundercat joined singer-songwriter Moses Sumney on the latter's "Lonely World," while in September he teamed with Michael McDonald for a lively rendition of the Doobie Brothers' "What a Fool Believes" at a Hollywood Bowl show hosted by FlyLo's Brainfeeder label.
