The National's new album, Trouble Will Find Me, will feature an impressive lineup of guest musicians, including Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent and Sharon Van Etten. Drummer Bryan Devendorf revealed personnel details of the band's sixth LP in a recent interview with Gothamist.
"There are some drum machines provided by Sufjan Stevens – he did some other things too, but he had this drum machine and he did some cool little parts on that," Devendorf said. "There are some great guest vocalists that did really awesome parts: [St. Vincent] Annie Clark, Sharon Van Etten, and Nona Marie Invie, from the band Dark Dark Dark."
Devendorf also mentioned that Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Perry and Thomas Bartlett (a.k.a. Doveman) lent a hand, and that the record's instrumentation includes clarinet, bass clarinet, strings and brass.
Trouble Will Find Me is due out on May 21st though 4AD.
