The Lonely Island have sweetened up their typically raunchy, hilarious formula in a new collaboration with Tegan and Sara called "Everything Is AWESOME!!!" The song will appear in the upcoming soundtrack for The Lego Movie.

Now you can stream the rambunctious synth cut, which finds twins Tegan and Sara crooning the warm and fuzzy hook about working together before the Lonely Island crew comes in for some characteristically amped-up rap verses. Of course, there's no mother-loving or YOLO-ing here, with Andy Samberg spitting lines about dipping his body in chocolate frosting and "awesome possums" before his cohorts Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone join in to list a variety of awesome things. (These include trees, frogs, the Nobel Prize, a piece of string and a book of Greek antiquities).

Last year was a big one for the Lonely Island and Tegan and Sara, who both released new albums. Continuing their streak of landing top-notch guest stars for their over-the-top pop and hip-hop songs, the Lonely Island boys scored cameos from Robyn, Diddy, Solange, Kendrick Lamar and Billie Joe Armstrong for their second LP, The Wack Album.

Meanwhile, Tegan and Sara kicked off the year with their seventh studio album, Heartthrob, which found them trading in their tried-and-true folk-rock style for the sugary sounds of bubblegum and synth-pop. The record made the shortlist for Canada's coveted Polaris Prize (though post-rockers Godspeed You! Black Emperor won) and helped the sisters score a spot as Taylor Swift's guests during a show in Los Angeles. Next, they will set sail on Paramore's upcoming concert cruise, Parahoy, which departs on March 7th.

“Santa Monica”

Everclear | 1996

After his brother and girlfriend both died of drug overdoses, Art Alexakis -- depressed and hooked on drugs himself -- jumped off the Santa Monica Pier in California, determined to die. "It was really stupid," said the Everclear frontman, who would further explore his personal emotional journey in the song "Father of Mine." "I went under the water. Then I said, 'I don't wanna die.'" The song, declaring "Let's swim out past the breakers/and watch the world die," was intended as a manifesto for change, Alexakis said. "Let the world do what it's gonna do and just live on our own."
