The Jesus and Mary Chain will commemorate the 30th anniversary of their fuzzy, landmark debut LP, Psychocandy, by playing it live on a tour this spring. The album contained the singles "Just Like Honey," "You Trip Me Up" and "Never Understand," and some versions included the international hit "Some Candy Talking." Although the album didn't score any U.S. hits, it was certified gold in the U.K.

"Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry," vocalist and guitarist Jim Reid said in a statement. "In 1985, there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six-month lifespan for the Mary Chain."

The band played a run of Psychocandy dates last November in the U.K. and France. The group's Paris concert marked the first time several songs were performed live.

"It is strange to be playing Psychocandy again," vocalist-guitarist William Reid, who sings the album's "It's So Hard," told Uncut around those shows last year. "But hopefully we can do it justice. I want to make records and show people we're not a 'heritage act.' What a fucking horrible term."

He also said that he hoped the band would record a new album "or two" this year. "We're trying to get our shit together and hopefully it'll happen," he said.

Tickets for the tour go on sale at 10 a.m. PST on January 30th.
