Click to listen to Bosco Delrey's 'My My Race Car (Mike D Remix)'
Right off the bat, Beastie Boy Mike D tucks a delicate hip-hop pulse underneath Bosco Delrey's soulful refrain in his remix of "My My Race Car." This new take on Delrey's 2010 single twists and turns through psychedelic synths and beats that sound like they could have been made from household items. That wouldn't come as much of a suprise, seeing as the world of Delrey is full of experimentation and an unexpected melding of sounds – something that Mike D. seems to understand and complement.
This exclusive premiere (not slated for any official release) follows the conclusion of Delrey's recent spring tour with Sleigh Bells and the April release of his debut album, Everybody Wah. The New Jersey/Memphis native is a relatively new addition to Diplo's label, Mad Decent, and he rides the divide between old and new, spicing up his lo-fi vibe with trickles of electronic melodies. With this track, Mike D adds his own flavor to the Delrey pot. The result? A cool, casual, genre-muddling haze.
