Sir Paul's Having a Baby

Wife Heather expecting later this year

May 28, 2003 12:00 AM ET

Paul McCartney and wife Heather are expecting their first child later this year. "We are delighted with this happy news," the couple said in a statement.

The sixty-year-old former Beatle and the thirty-four-year-old ex-model (formerly Heather Mills) were married last June at a castle in Ireland, the second marriage for both. They met four years ago at an anti-landmine charity event. The baby will be Heather's first, while McCartney has three children -- Stella, James and Mary -- from his first wife, Linda McCartney, who died of breast cancer in 1998. He also has a stepdaughter from that marriage.

Paul will have plenty of time to spend at home with the new child. On Sunday, he will wrap up a world tour that had him traversing the globe for more than a year in support of his last album, 2001's Driving Rain.

“Oh Sherrie”

Steve Perry | 1984

Steve Perry's girlfriend Sherrie Swafford was actually in the studio when Perry began writing this song--his lone Top Ten hit as a solo act--with two co-writers. The trio began at midnight one night with just "Oh, Sherrie!" and "hold on, hold on." Three hours later, they had a complete song. Swafford, however, had to wait until the next day to hear it. "Sherrie actually got tired and went to bed," Perry said. She also appeared in the video, but their relationship did not hold on for long.
